Approaches,
in detail

What is ‘mindfulness’?

We will work with where you are at in the present moment, with non-judgmental awareness. Mindfulness allows for a new way of relating to thoughts and feelings and being with challenging and painful experiences. Increasing self-awareness through mindfulness can lead to openness and acceptance, deepening relationships with yourself and others.

What is ‘somatic’ ?

I work to help you feel more connected and at home in your body. We will attend to the nervous system and the sensations in your body. Somatic therapy engages your felt-sense awareness, bringing clarity to issues and allowing for the development of new neural pathways. This provides a new way of responding to circumstances and getting out of stuck, unhelpful patterns. Somatic therapy can release stress, tension and trauma impacting well-being, connecting you with your vitality.

What is ‘parts work’ ?

Exploring, identifying and understanding the different aspects that make up who we are, our internal system. We will work with the unresolved conflicts between these different parts, healing wounded and suppressed parts. Parts work can restore balance and harmony within to live as your core, authentic, true self.

What is ‘attachment’?

Early experiences and patterns developed with caregivers and families can impact our innate ability to bond and be in healthy relationships. Through a trusting, supportive therapeutic relationship, we will work to heal attachment wounds and disruptions, deepening connection and intimacy. We will connect to the intrinsic healthy attachment system within each of us, developing communication and trust.

What is ‘compassion’?

I can help you to feel the experience of compassion and cultivate compassionate relationships with yourself and others. Compassion-focused therapy addresses the inner-critic, allowing for a gentler way of relating to yourself. We will work through judgment, criticism, shame or blame, fostering unconditional and loving presence. Developing compassion has been proven to help with a range of challenges including anxiety, depression, shame, trauma and overall well-being.
